General Sir John Monash


John Monash was born in1865 in Western Victoria Australia , and died in1931 in Lona Victoria Australia. He is on the back of the one hundred dollar note.
He had  lots of occupations.These are some of them
  • civil engineer
  • university vice-chancellor
  • and Zionist
He was a proficient citizen-soldier before 1914,and a highly successful engineer in civil life.
Also, he commanded the 4th brigade at Gallipoli and was promoted to major general in June 1916 and given
command of the 3th division.
He said work was the best thing in life and the interesting things he built was a bridge in 1899. Apart from its grace and its famous builder the bridge is notable for being made of reinforced concrete which one of the first such structures in Australia.
